The Copernican Principle Exhibition – Learn Through Play
WHEN
- Until 30 May 2025
WHERE
- Science Centre Singapore

This exhibition invites visitors of all backgrounds to engage with the intersection of science, philosophy, and interactive media. Whether you’re a science enthusiast, a gaming fan, or simply curious about the mysteries of the universe, the Copernican Principle exhibition promises a journey of discovery unlike any other.
Polish astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus revolutionized our understanding of the universe when he proposed that Earth is not the center of the Solar System. The Copernican Principle exhibition—an immersive blend of art, science, and interactive media challenges our perception of humanity’s place in the cosmos.
An Innovative Fusion of Art and Science
The showcase is a groundbreaking collaboration between Poland’s B61 Institute and Science Centre Singapore, with support from the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs that merges cutting-edge art installations, thought-provoking philosophy, and engaging technology, offering visitors a truly immersive experience.
Curated by Jan Świerkowski, the exhibition features nine retro-futuristic arcade games designed in collaboration with renowned visual artist Tomasz Wlazlak. These interactive experiences invite visitors to reflect on key philosophical and ethical questions surrounding space exploration, environmental responsibility, and our understanding of life beyond Earth.
Learn Through Play: Gaming with a Deeper Meaning
At the heart of the exhibition are nine interactive arcade games, each designed to spark curiosity and challenge conventional thinking. Dark Side, for example, tasks players with establishing a nature reserve on the Moon, prompting reflection on humanity’s responsibility in colonizing new worlds. Game No Life explores our perceptions of life in space, questioning whether we see existence as a natural state or an extraordinary phenomenon.
The Copernican Principle exhibition has already been showcased at some of the world’s most prestigious events, including Sonar in Barcelona, Berlin Science Week, the Madrid Planetarium, the Kochi Biennale, and the European Capital of Science in Leiden. Now, Singapore—one of the most technologically advanced cities in the world—provides the perfect backdrop for this thought-provoking experience.
Don’t miss this chance to explore, question, and expand your horizons—just as Copernicus did centuries ago!
