The story is an adaptation of the Polish writer, Władysław Reymont’s Nobel Prize-winning novel of the same name.
Jagna, is a young woman determined to make her own way in a late 19th-century Polish village. Despite the village’s strong traditions, gossip, and ongoing conflicts, she strives to break free from the constraints of patriarchy and societal expectations.
The film was produced using the painted animation technique similar to the directors’ previous film, “Loving Vincent“.
