ARTISTS

ARTUR DUTKIEWICZ – a highly respected pianist, improviser, and composer, often referred to as the “Ambassador of Polish Jazz” (Jazz Forum 12/2012). He has performed in over 70 countries, appearing at festivals and prestigious concert halls worldwide.
Dutkiewicz has been awarded the Silver Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis by the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
He is a laureate of numerous music competitions in Poland and abroad and was a finalist in the prestigious Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Competition in Washington, D.C. In 1988, he became the first Polish jazz musician to have a solo recital at MIDEM in Cannes.
Dutkiewicz leads his own band, the Artur Dutkiewicz Trio, and also performs solo. He has released seven original albums and collaborated on many others.
He has performed at major jazz festivals worldwide, including Jazz Jamboree (Warsaw), Münster Jazz Festival, North Sea Jazz Festival (The Hague), Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Festival Opera De Paris, Sziget Festival (Budapest), Polish Film Festival (Los Angeles), Glasgow Jazz Festival, Thessaloniki Ethno Festival, Düsseldorf Jazz Rally, World Culture Festival (Berlin), Notturni in Palestro Festival (Milan), BJ Ninegates Jazz Festival (Beijing), Kontu Festival (Helsinki), Utsav International Jazz Festival (New Delhi), Melbourne International Jazz Festival, and Izmir European Jazz Festival.
He also appeared on stage with the avant-garde Instrumental Theatre of Ryszard Gwalbert Misiek, both as an actor and musician (so-called “muzitor”), co-creating music for the performances The Trial by Franz Kafka and The Tenant’s Dance.
He taught piano classes at the International Jazz Workshops in Puławy and Chodzież for many years. He has frequently served as a jury member for the International Jazz Pianists Competition in Kalisz and chaired the jury at the International Jazz Improvisation Competition in Vilnius (2006 and 2008).
He has conducted numerous masterclasses for students in China, Lithuania, Turkey, Ukraine, Mexico, Peru, Tunisia, and the Philippines.

MICHAŁ BARAŃSKI – a jazz guitarist and double bassist, graduate of the Jazz Department at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice.
Winner of the Fryderyk Award 2023 for Best Jazz Album and Jazz Artist of the Year. He is frequently recognized as the best Polish double bassist (according to the Jazz Forum magazine poll).
Despite his young age, his discography includes dozens of albums recorded alongside renowned musicians, including Trilogy with Brad Terry (2000), Asymmetry with Zbigniew Namysłowski’s band, Umiera piękno with Aga Zaryan, Early Reflections with the Bennie Maupin Quartet, and Sacrum Profanum with Adam Baładych’s quartet.
He has collaborated with artists such as Bennie Maupin, Dayna Stephens, Nigel Kennedy, Dan Tepfer, Joel Holmes, Vladislav Sendecki, Derrick McKenzie, Tomasz Stańko, Zbigniew Namysłowski, Marcin Wasilewski, Michał Urbaniak, Aga Zaryan, Piotr Wojtasik, Jarosław Śmietana, Artur Dutkiewicz, Urszula Dudziak, Kuba Badach, Piotr Baron, Ewa Bem, Mieczysław Szcześniak, and Adam Bałdych.
In 2014, he was nominated for the Fryderyk Award in the Jazz Artist of the Year category.
He holds a PhD and is an assistant professor at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, at the Faculty of Jazz and Popular Music, specializing in double bass and bass guitar.

SEBASTIAN KUCHCZYŃSKI – a young-generation jazz drummer. He is a graduate of the Institute of Jazz at the Academy of Music in Katowice, Berklee College of Music in Boston, and Frost School of Music in Miami (USA).
Founder of the Gravity Jazz Collective, he has been nominated three times for the Fryderyk Award.
He has collaborated with renowned artists such as Victor Mendoza, George Garzone, Zbigniew Namysłowski, Wojciech Karolak, Janusz Muniak, Piotr Wojtasik, Maciej Sikała, Janusz Skowron, Benjamin Drazen, Lora Szafran, and Monika Borzym.
He is the recipient of numerous jazz competition awards, including:
- Special Award for the Most Promising Talent at the Tarnów Jazz Contest (2008),
- Individual Award at Jazz on the Odra in Wrocław (2010),
- Second Prize at Jazz Hoeilaart in Belgium (2010),
- First Prize at the 34th Getxo Jazz Competition in Spain,
- First Prize at the Krokus Jazz Festival in Jelenia Góra (2011 and 2012).
