Commemoration of the hundredth anniversary of the birth of Karol Wojtyła

On October 22, the day of the papal inauguration in 1978, Ambassador Magdalena Bogdziewicz together with the Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Marek Zalewski and Archbishop in Singapore, William Goh laid flowers at the John Paul II Monument located at the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd. In connection with this event, Catholic News prepared a video report on John Paul II, in which Amb. Bogdziewicz and Nuncio Zalewski explain the importance of his pontificate for Poland and the world.

The celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great Pole was also joined by local parish churches, presenting the exhibition “The Pope of Freedom” prepared by the Embassy. Church of St. Antoni prepared a few short videos referring to the figure of Pope John Paul II and his pilgrimage to Singapore in November 1986. On October 25, Ambassador Bogdziewicz had the opportunity to address parishioners after the Holy Mass commemorating John Paul II in the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. In her speech, Ambassador showed the achievements and role of Pope John Paul II from the perspective of Central and Eastern European countries: in the field of defending human rights, overthrowing communism and introducing democracy, promoting freedom and peace in the world.
